Description

Do you want to help create the Amazon devices that delight customers worldwide every day, like Echo, Fire TV, and Kindle? Amazon’s Devices & Services business is looking for a talented attorney to support our rapidly evolving business.

The attorney will work closely with our engineering, business development, cybersecurity, and product teams as counsel on technology development, cybersecurity, and IP-related matters. The attorney will structure, draft, and negotiate a range of agreements, including software licenses, hardware/technology development agreements, and services agreements. The attorney will counsel the business on use of generative AI technology and compliance in areas including cybersecurity and open-source software. The attorney will also manage engagements with universities and standards organizations and will develop strategies for handling legal issues in ways that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about technology, can crystallize the law and apply it to consumer electronics, solves problems creatively, and is comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • Technology transactions experience. Litigation candidates with IP or technical experience will also be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • A mix of corporate law firm and in-house experience
  • 2+ years of experience analyzing, structuring, drafting, and negotiating licensing and other technology transactions in support of hardware and/or software product development
  • Technical background (computer science or electrical engineering preferred), with strong knowledge of software and hardware development and design
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Sound judgment, including in ambiguous situations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
