Summary: The Paralegal Manager will actively engage with practice groups, attorneys, and firm administration to ensure efficient support and the delivery of high-quality legal work. This role requires critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective communication to maintain team productivity. Responsibilities: Engage with practice groups and attorneys to understand needs and align paralegal expertise. Lead and manage paralegal support functions, including recruitment, hiring, utilization, training, professional development, performance management, and mentorship. Oversee workflow, capacity, assignments of paralegals to ensure timely, quality support for attorneys and clients. Coordinate and participate in the recruiting, orientation and onboarding of new paralegals, providing necessary training and resource access. Develop and implement training programs tailored to specific practice groups. Establish and maintain strong relationships across leadership, stakeholders and paraprofessional staff Lead the performance evaluation process, including engaging attorneys, reviewing evaluations, and conducting annual performance reviews, in collaboration with Human Resources. Conduct 90-day evaluations and administer annual performance reviews for paralegal staff. Oversee timekeeping, including managing PTO requests, approving overtime and ensuring payroll compliance. Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting Managing Partner, Department Chairs and Practice Group Leaders. Qualifying Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of paralegal experience with over 3 years of experience managing a large team of paralegals or other timekeeping professionals, preferably in a law firm across offices and multiple departments. Demonstrated financial acumen, particularly productivity metrics in billable / professional services context. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with project management and SharePoint is preferred. Knowledge of Attorney Rules of Professional Conduct.
