Our hybrid work model (2-3 days in the office in Tempe/AZ) gives us the face-to-face time to have creative conversations, meaningful meetings, make quick decisions and build relationships. At the same time, it offers the flexibility you need to focus and do your best work.

Mission and Goals

Purpose:

As a Corporate Counsel – Business Legal, you will play a critical role in supporting our sales, product, marketing, and engineering teams. Your primary mission will be to provide practical legal guidance and ensure compliance across various aspects of the product development lifecycle, enabling the business to position products effectively in the marketplace. This role involves collaborating with Privacy, Brand, Marketing, IP, and Commercial legal team members to provide expert advice, negotiate complex contracts, and oversee strategic legal processes. You will need to balance innovation with risk management while working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

Objectives 

  • Draft and negotiate standard and bespoke partner contracts for sales and partner channels, including vendor agreements.
  • Provide balanced legal guidance on customer experience, product marketing, data, and technology-related issues.
  • Collaborate with legal colleagues and internal clients to drive innovation and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Interpret and clearly summarize complex legal issues to help business leaders understand risks associated with specific courses of action.
  • Develop policies and procedures for internal legal processes and manage relationships with outside counsel.
  • Assist with executing strategic partnerships and negotiating inbound license agreements.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate future risks, ensuring business readiness for potential challenges.

Competencies 

  • Legal Expertise: JD from an accredited institution and State Bar certification (preferably AZ or CA), with 3-6 years of relevant legal experience at a law firm or technology company.
  • Contract Negotiation Skills: Substantive familiarity with commercial contracts, business practices, marketing laws, and consumer protection laws.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify critical issues, prioritize tasks, and drive cross-functional projects with end-to-end accountability.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Experience working cross-functionally, with excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey legal and technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Intellectually curious and eager to learn, with a deep-seated commitment to protecting and empowering people to live their digital lives safely.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills, practical judgment, and a proactive approach to addressing issues and risks.
  • Team Player: Willingness to tackle all levels of work, from simple to complex, with a sense of humor and a collaborative spirit.
