Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced IT Specialist to join our team in a critical contract role with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). As a key player in the Enforcement Section of the DMV Systems Unit, you will be responsible for providing essential software support to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Enforcement Section (NCSHP MCES) and the DMV License and Theft Bureau. This remote position offers a competitive W-2 rate of up to $55/hour for a one-year contract, with opportunities for professional networking and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver software support for the legacy Fuel Tax Compliance System (FuelTaCS), ensuring its efficient operation.Undertake the modernization of the legacy FuelTaCS application by rewriting it in C#.Maintain and support other DMV applications, including LECMS, the Scrap Yard System, Trip Permits, CVIEW, and Notice Storage & Theft.Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to guarantee application performance and compliance with regulations.Conduct thorough software development processes, including analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, and documentation.
Required Skills
Deep understanding of software development principles and methodologies.Proficiency in .NET Development Frameworks (.NET Framework, Windows Forms).Strong programming skills in C# and C++.Experience with databases, version control, and XML.Extensive knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Joint Application Development (JAD).Proven ability to lead projects and support production applications.
Qualifications
A minimum of 25 years of work or managerial experience in the IT sector.Demonstrated experience in software development and application maintenance is essential.Proven track record of effectively supporting production applications.
