Our client, a well known law firm in Tampa, is looking to add a Legal Assistant to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate

$23 – $35/hr Based on Experience

Position Overview

The Litigation Legal Assistant assists in preparing a variety of litigation documents, such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and other related documents. The Litigation Legal Assistant assists in filing legal documents with state and federal courts, and serves documents on all parties. Assists in preparing and serving discovery related documents.

Responsibilities Of The Litigation Legal Assistant

  • Document preparation: Assisting in preparing and filing legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and briefs
  • Calendar management: Scheduling court hearings, appearances, and response dates for assigned attorneys
  • Communication: Communicating with clients in person, over the phone, and via email
  • Research: Performing legal and background research when requested
  • Case management: Creating and maintaining case files, including producing and editing transcripts
  • Administrative duties: Maintaining lawyers’ calendars, making photocopies, and compiling complex documentation
  • Document organization: Organizing, redacting, and converting documents in response to Public Records Act and discovery requests
  • Correspondence: Composing and preparing routine correspondence
  • Phone calls: Placing and receiving telephone calls, taking and transmitting messages
  • Travel arrangements: Making travel arrangements, preparing expense reports, recording attorney time by matter

Qualifications For The Litigation Legal Assistant

  • 1+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal
  • Exposure to Commercial Litigation or Trust and Probate Law is preferred

Education Requirements

  • Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree is preferred
