Job Description
 
Education Required:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Paralegal / Legal Assistant Skills Required:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with the coordination of logistics for the Direct Referral hearing process
  • Ability to work independently on multiple case hearing details
  • Proficient with operation of postage meter and process for sending documents by certified mail
  • Experience fielding incoming calls, determining the legal subject that the caller is calling about, and routing caller to appropriate attorney or refer to appropriate program area
  • Proficient in coordinating service of legal documents
  • Experience with processing of invoices for process service companies
  • Experience working in the New York State Department of Health, Division of Legal Affairs
  • Knowledge of the organizational structure of Department of Health
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Works well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to maintain an organized work space
  • Reliable, efficient, and flexible
  • Able to work independently and effectively
  • Eager to learn and grow in any position
  • Able to work with personal and confidential information in a professional manner
  • Able to understand and interpret laws and other legal documents
  • Detail oriented, quality conscious, strong prioritizing skills, highly organized
  • Proficiency with the operation of Cisco telephone system

Paralegal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of logistics for the Direct Referral hearing process
  • Work independently on multiple case hearing details
  • Operation of postage meter and process for sending documents by certified mail
  • Fielding incoming calls, determining the legal subject that the caller is calling about, and routing caller to appropriate attorney or refer to appropriate program area
  • Coordinating service of legal documents

  • Understand and interpret laws and other legal documents


Additional Details:

  • Ability to work 9:00AM-5:00PM
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice
  • Offers are contingent upon successful completion of background check requirements
  • No parking provided at this location.
