The Chief of Staff to the Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer (CLRO) is a key senior leader responsible for driving the strategic agenda of the legal and regulatory organization while ensuring effective execution of its initiatives. This role, also suited for a Head of Strategy and Operations, is ideal for a senior strategic thinker with extensive experience in legal and regulatory matters who is comfortable navigating complex organizational dynamics and driving results through influence and collaboration. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of project management skills, a legal background, regulatory consulting experience, and strategic leadership, balanced with hands-on, tactical execution.
What You’ll Do:
- Strategic Partnership: Act as a strategic advisor to the CLO, helping to define, prioritize, and operationalize the legal and regulatory strategy. Partner closely with senior leadership across the organization to ensure alignment with business objectives and drive key legal, compliance, and regulatory initiatives.
- Consultative Leadership: Provide consulting expertise to legal, regulatory, and business leaders, leveraging insights and data to inform decision-making, optimize legal and regulatory processes, and implement best practices in risk management and compliance.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the operational rhythm of the legal and regulatory functions, including managing the department's calendar, meeting agendas, and strategic planning processes. Drive efficiencies and process improvements within legal and regulatory operations.
- Communication and Alignment: Facilitate communication and alignment across the legal and regulatory leadership team. Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and reports for key meetings, ensuring the CLO is well-prepared for executive and board discussions.
- Tactical Execution: Roll up your sleeves to handle day-to-day tactical work as needed, including managing key legal and regulatory projects, resolving issues, and supporting the legal team with complex problem-solving.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization, working collaboratively to address challenges, align on priorities, and drive legal and regulatory initiatives that support business outcomes.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in legal or regulatory roles with demonstrated success in senior leadership positions, including experience in legal and regulatory consulting, project management, or a similar strategic leadership position
- Proven track record of partnering with senior executives and leading cross-functional teams to deliver strategic legal and regulatory initiatives
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and drive complex initiatives to completion
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills; ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution, adapting to changing priorities and needs within a dynamic environment
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality; able to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Experience in corporate governance, compliance, risk management, regulatory affairs, contract negotiation, and other key areas of legal and regulatory practice
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-impact environment

In accordance with New York City Law, below is the annual base salary range for this position. Actual annual base salary is based on, but not limited to: experience, education, professional licenses, location and business needs. The position is eligible for health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, 401k plan, paid-time off, and sick (and where applicable safe) leave. This position is also eligible for a discretionary year-end bonus.
