Support the Commercial Real Estate legal team within the Commercial Bank by providing essential legal and administrative assistance. This role requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously while working in a fast-paced environment. Assist in-house counsel with a variety of legal processes, document management, and team coordination activities.
Billing and Outside Counsel Management:
Assist in tracking and managing billing from outside counsel. Coordinate communication between in-house counsel and outside counsel to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
Document Modification:
Perform light document editing and formatting as required by the legal team. Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents under the supervision of in-house counsel.
Knowledge Management:
Organize and maintain the legal team’s knowledge management systems, ensuring that all documents, templates, and resources are up-to-date and easily accessible. Assist in the creation and organization of legal precedent and research materials.
Training and Development:
Assist in developing and scheduling training sessions for the legal team and other stakeholders. Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including invitations, materials preparation, and follow-up communications.
General Legal Support:
Provide administrative and clerical support to the in-house legal team as needed. Assist with special projects and other tasks as assigned by the legal team.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification At least 2 years of paralegal or project management or process management experience with either an in-house legal department or a law firm
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ year experience in the legal field as a legal support associate Project management certification Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines under pressure Capability to anticipate and resolve problems quickly and independently Skilled in planning and execution of special projects during time-critical assignments Decisive and direct, yet flexible in responding to the constant change of an organization Enthusiastic, creative, and willing to assume increased responsibility Proficiency in either Google Workspace (formerly G Suite – Gmail and Google Docs and Drive) or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $84,300 - $96,200 for Legal Specialist Associate
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
