Job Summary And Qualifications

The Senior Counsel works with Parallon CEO of Payer Specialized Operations and Managing Counsel, other Parallon legal counsel, HCA Legal Counsel, outside counsel and business owners to provide legal support for escalated dispute resolution and out of network payer dispute matters, that may include regulatory review, legal research and writing, dispute management and negotiations with opposing parties on settlement terms, and other litigation support. This role will serve as an escalation point for department staff attorney day to day matters and will support Parallon generally with general litigation support matters including deposition prep and complex record production requests. `This role may include such other projects as assigned.

What you will do in this role:

  • Review payer agreements and review regulatory overlay to provide guidance on dispute resolution strategy, to include coordination of opportunities identified
  • Draft correspondence, dispute resolution analyses, arbitration submissions, and settlement agreements.
  • Manage disputes for which primary responsibility is assigned, and oversee and provide support for staff attorney matters.
  • Coordinate with the internal and external business clients and legal partners to support positive outcomes.
  • Assist in the development of Parallon policies and practices and provide legal advice on strategic considerations relevant to this business unit.
  • Advise Parallon business unit on various aspects of the law and related regulations, including No Surprises Act and associated state laws.
  • Work with HCA legal teams as well as outside counsel on variety of matters.
  • Provide general litigation support for Parallon depositions and complex record requests.
  • Design training, support and quality monitoring for internal processes, to include No Surprise Act and other dispute matters
  • Special projects as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Juris Doctor from accredited law school
  • Minimum ten (10) years legal experience including substantial healthcare payer/revenue cycle litigation and arbitration/independent dispute resolution proficiency; ideal candidate will have familiarity with No Surprises Act IDR processes.
  • License to practice law in good standing
