Responsibilities

  • You will provide technical and paralegal services for attorneys assigned to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC), to include the Chief Counsel and one Assistant Disciplinary Counsel.
  • You will assist with the preparation of case status reports and coordinating the Agency’s docket.
  • You will review litigation summaries and update the case management system.
  • You will execute processes related to the Cease and Desist and Temporary Suspension processes.
  • You will provide legal support to two attorneys, including drafting legal documents, preparing correspondence, updating calendars, and communicating with parties on the progress of cases.
  • You will serve as the Human Resources liaison for ODC including providing administrative support for recruitment, personnel actions, and time and leave issues.
  • You will perform other duties such as coordinating the final closure of disciplinary matters, contacting witnesses, scheduling and coordinating hearings, coordinating subpoena services, copying and organizing documents and exhibits and assisting with the coordination of informal conferences and hearings.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma and experience in providing administrative support for an attorney(s) or a legal office. Preferred Requirements: A high school diploma, completion of a paralegal program and three (3) years of paralegal experience, two of which was spent in training under the direct supervision of an attorney.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A high school diploma, completion of a paralegal program and three (3) years of paralegal experience, two of which was spent in training under the direct supervision of an attorney.
  • Knowledge of personal computers, word processing and Adobe Professional.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable terminology/research practices and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public and co-workers orally and in writing.

  • Position works in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and standing.
  • May require occasional work outside of normal office hours.
  • May be required to lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Daily filing, data entry, telephone and computer use.
