The C ompliance and Ethics Manager leads and conducts investigations into potential misconduct across the enterprise and provides programmatic support to the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer in the design, development and execution of compliance and ethics program elements such as Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest disclosure process and education, training and awareness activities. The role involves preparing detailed reports for management and the Board of Directors/Audit Committee, outlining investigation findings and recommending actions to address and prevent future issues as well as provide broad support for compliance and ethics program related activities across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and conducts investigations and special projects of a highly sensitive and/or complex nature, designed to prove or disprove allegations of fraud or other misconduct. Handles highly confidential information and situations.
  • Prepares and delivers reports on the results of investigations and special projects for management and the Board of Directors/Audit Committee as appropriate and provides objective recommendations for ways to prevent or deter misconduct in the future.
  • Monitors management responses to our recommendations and ensures that management has taken corrective actions to address risks. Identifies and assesses fraud risks and their implications and identifies root causes for misconduct.
  • Leads and conducts fraud/misconduct monitoring activities (e.g., risk identification, data analytics).
  • Assists periodically in the ongoing identification and assessment of the enterprise’s current state of fraud exposure, including assessment of the effectiveness of controls designed to address those exposures.
  • Creates and provides fraud awareness training to other groups.
  • Maintains professional knowledge and capabilities related to new developments in investigation methods and techniques including forensic accounting methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; 5+ years of experience working in a compliance and ethics department conducting corporate ethics and compliance investigations or internal audit investigations; Has or is working toward a professional certification such as a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) are highly preferred.
  • Experience maintaining policies and procedures.
  • Experience creating and conducting compliance related trainings.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytical thinking and skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to develop clear and concise investigative reports.
  • Team oriented with the ability to take a collaborative approach to executing work tasks.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time, while maintaining a high standard and keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office, specifically Word , PowerPoint, and Excel (pivot tables, charts, and other intermediate-level functions).

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
