What is the Role:

We are currently hiring for an Associate Counsel to work within DCG's Legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to be the fourth in-house lawyer on an exciting and dynamic startup team. You will be reporting to the Director, Legal and will manage a broad range of matters across the organization. This is also an opportunity to gain exposure working with the Chief Legal Officer and other C-level executives as part of a small and strategic team.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

As a key member of our dynamic team, this opportunity presents you with the opportunity to get broad exposure across the business including by:

  • Managing all legal processes and documentation across a broad range of venture capital investment transactions.
  • Providing general business counsel, corporate governance and securities law advice on an as-needed basis.
  • Supporting strategic projects and providing support to DCG's subsidiaries and portfolio companies.
  • Assisting with cap table matters and administration of the company's equity plan.
  • Negotiating several types of agreements (e.g., NDAs, service agreements and side letters).
  • Staying apprised of relevant regulatory developments and analyzing implications for the firm and industry, including by supporting DCG's policy efforts in D.C.
  • Cultivating strong working relationships with internal teams and external business partners (including outside counsel and other advisors).
  • Coordinating with other groups in the organization – investments, operations, finance, accounting, investor relations, communications, etc. on various matters.

What You'll Bring:

_Experience:

_

  • J.D. degree and active bar membership (in good standing) required
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant transactional legal experience at a big firm
  • Strong track record of advancement/attainment in both academic and professional environments

_Communication and Collaboration:

  • You are a proven collaborator and communicator; you know how to listen and work well with others across disciplines
  • Strong drafting skills (e.g., contracts, policies, disclosures) and exceptional oral/written communication skills for both legal and non-legal audiences to be able to clearly explain complex problems

_Organizational:

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and proactive
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects and deliver on time; ability to independently manage investment transactions consulting with others as needed
  • A knack for organization and surfacing issues

  • You can think outside of the box and come up with creative solutions to solve complex problems
  • You enjoy a challenge and will look at potential solutions through multiple lenses
  • You are comfortable navigating the grey and being pragmatic in approach to business problems in an emerging and volatile global regulatory environment
