Government Legal, Contracts and Compliance Manager

The Government Legal, Contracts and Compliance Manager will support the Business in contract and compliance management initiatives.

What can you expect?

Legal Issues

  • Liaison with Mercer Legal / Compliance on RFP exceptions to terms and conditions, Mercer waiver approvals, subcontracting agreements / management, limitations of liability, Conflicts of Interest, Business Associate Agreement, Non-Disclosure Agreement, and Certificates of Insurance.
  • Liaison with Mercer/MMC Information Security to understand ability to comply with RFP and contractual information technology security requirements
  • Partner with senior colleagues in contract negotiations, compliance, and maintenance of existing and new legal contracts.
  • Manage and maintain the contract database and status.

Provide Business Development and Sales Team Support

  • Takes the initiative to interpret Legal and Compliance actionable items.
  • Contribute to Business Development and Sales initiatives / projects.

Team Workflow Management

  • Manage day to day internal and external activities
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Manage workflow timelines appropriately

What you need to have:

  • Master degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree with 5+ year experience acceptable.
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in a related contract management discipline in the public sector and/ or industry serving government sectors where you are able to demonstrate a proven track record of coordinating teams to deliver appropriate outcomes.
  • Awareness of the impact and relevance of IT security standards on the firm's ability to comply with state and federal contractual requirements. Relevant standards may include, but are not limited to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity requirements, the Minimum Acceptable Risk Standards for Exchanges (MARS-E), and other state requirements as identified in various contract documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suites, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required.
  • Intermediate SmartSheet skills
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively with attorneys.
  • Technical review experience related to contractual terms and conditions and other contractual requirements.
  • Must have flexibility to work additional hours at short notice as needed to meet department goals. The work will, at times, require extended and irregular hours to perform essential duties.
