We are looking for an exceptional attorney to join our Global Toy Legal Team.  The ideal candidate is an outstanding legal and business advisor with strong interpersonal and communication skills, great judgment, a team-first mentality, and a sense of humor.  Working alongside senior Hasbro legal and business professionals, you’ll support teams across the company (including global brand, marketing, business development, finance, PR/corporate communications, sales, product design and development, concept acquisition, rights, quality assurance, IP security, philanthropy, ESG/CSR, and creative services) on a range of matters, including intellectual property, licensing, contract interpretation, advertising, promotions, social media, privacy, and regulatory compliance.  Come join the team!

 

This is a hybrid role and requires the ability to work onsite in our Pawtucket, RI office 2 to 3 days per week.

 

A Day in the Life of an Attorney:

  • Every day is fast paced, varied, and unlike the day before!
  • Counsel clients on a broad range of legal issues, including intellectual property, licensing, marketing, advertising, claims substantiation, promotions, social media, digital media, regulatory/compliance matters, and contract interpretation.
  • Negotiate and draft a variety of contracts, including IP licenses, concept agreements, agency agreements, consulting agreements, development agreements, marketing and promotion agreements, influencer and talent agreements, NIL and rights of publicity agreements, music contracts, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Review and advise on product development, packaging, and all manner of advertising and marketing materials, including television commercials, digital media campaigns, contests, sweepstakes, and other promotions.
  • Partner with clients (including senior management) to identify, anticipate, and mitigate legal risks to help achieve business objectives and set strategy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to solve novel legal and business problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Provide client education and training on relevant legal topics.
  • Provide occasional support on other matters including litigation, entertainment, and IP enforcement.

What You’ll Bring:

  • J.D. from accredited law school, excellent academic credentials.
  • Bar membership in good standing.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house law department.
  • Experience negotiating and drafting a variety of contracts, including intellectual property agreements.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills and people skills.
  • Ability to engage in clear, practical evaluations and explanations of risks.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of advertising and intellectual property laws and issues, especially copyright, trademark, and rights of publicity.
  • Knowledge of competition law and privacy a plus.
  • Flexibility and willingness to seek out, learn, and implement new technologies, practice management improvements, and knowledge-sharing protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize substantial and diverse workload and complete complex tasks in a timely manner.
  • A growth mindset and a winning attitude.

Compensation Range, Currency USD:

  • Starting Pay Range:  $121,997
  • Pay Range End: $217,815
