Role

Provide legal advice, counseling, and training to business partners on issues related primarily to real estate, but also include understanding and ability to work with customer contracts, service and vendor contracts, regulatory, environmental, litigation and dispute resolution, corporate matters, and/or other areas.

Responsibilities

  • Recognizes and evaluates legal risks associated with different business decisions and communicates those risks to peers and colleagues.
  • Able to communicate effectively in written and oral presentations.
  • Respond to legal inquiries, assisting Crown personnel with regard to legal issues as needed.
  • Interpret, draft and review full range of real estate documents including lease and easement agreements.
  • Ability to review and understand title and title related documents.
  • Assist in the interpretation of contract documents and in the resolution of disputes related to contract terms.
  • Manage litigation and other disputes, including counseling Crown personnel and directing, selecting, managing and interacting with outside counsel.
  • Assist in all aspects of condemnation matters, including engagement and management of external resources when appropriate.
  • Assist on special projects; involving initiation and execution of various projects related to training.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Attorney’s License

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • Four (4) + years of related legal experience, ten (10) + years preferred.

Expectations

  • Thorough knowledge of legal research and writing techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of real estate, contract and business law
  • Telecommunications experience useful
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work with individuals of diverse background, personalities and opinions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Working knowledge of MS Office

Organizational Relationship

Reports to: Associate General Counsel

Title(s) of direct reports (if applicable): None or Paralegal, Legal Assistant

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in the office on Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office or home. There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
