Your role
Are you ready to work in a control function overseeing Risk Control for a complex, global financial institution? Can you build relationships and influence outcomes, as well as develop and implement innovative solutions? We are looking for someone who can help us expand our second line of defense (2LOD) capabilities for coverage of Group Risk Control (GRC) in the Combined US Operations (CUSO). The CORC GRC, CUSO Officer is a critical role to implement and sustain the 2LOD CUSO risk oversight function. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following 2LOD roles and responsibilities in the CUSO:

  • Lead the design and performance of quarterly Compliance Risk Assessments (CRA) monitoring controls to ensure adherence to key relevant rules and regulations
  • Attend CUSO risk committees and forums to represent CORC GRC in executing our review and challenge mandate
  • Review and challenge the Firm/ Business Divisions / Group Functions, Significant Group Entities’ operational risk appetite assessment outcomes, Key Process Control Assessments as well as the Risk Control Self Assessments in relation to Group Risk Control CUSO
  • Review and challenge any Non-Financial Risk events or control issues raised in relation to Group Risk Control CUSO
  • Review and challenge the front-to-back design and implementation of the CUSO control framework, including standards, governance and procedures
  • Perform thematic reviews, deep-dives and read across reviews into areas of new or evolving risks affecting GRC
  • Assistance in the development of new policies and procedures as well as local implementation of new rules and regulations and internal policies and procedures

You will work in the Global Compliance & Operational Risk Control team covering Group Functions, in particular Group Risk Control and will report to the Head of CORC GRC. This is a dynamic, driven and diverse team of professionals, with oversight responsibility for managing the operational risks arising from UBS' business.

Your expertise

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study required
  • Your experience includes one or more of the following:
  • 5+ years working in a risk control function covering primary risk management (e.g. as a credit, market or treasury risk officer)
  • 5+ years in an operational risk role with a wealth management, broker-dealer, retail and/or private bank, supporting a risk control function that covers primary risks
  • 5+ years at a regulatory agency or major consulting firm performing a role with a primary risk focused mandate
  • An excellent understanding of controls, processes and systems relevant to risk control
  • Excellent communication and networking skills – to be successful in the mandate, the role holder will be required to communicate with senior management in the business and other C&ORC functions, produce materials aimed to be presented to senior C&ORC and business management in governance committees, respond quickly to requests from Risk Officers and regulators, handle challenging situations, and manage a large number of stakeholders in order to deliver complex projects within agreed timelines
