As a corporate claims attorney , you’ll partner with our auto claims organization to advise and consult on claims involving coverage matters, high exposure claims, and highly complex legal issues. You’ll be responsible for overseeing litigation against the company, risk analyses, reporting, as well as assisting with the litigation of bad faith claims. Additionally, on occasion, you may represent the interests of Progressive at mediation, arbitration, or in court, but not act as the attorney-of-record.

Must Have Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate required
  • Admission to the bar of at least one state
  • Six or more years of legal experience including complex civil litigation experience or related corporate experience

Preferred Skills

  • Complex auto insurance coverage experience
  • Demonstrated recent experience with analyzing, litigating, and/or providing counseling to clients regarding insurance bad faith and extra-contractual liability
  • Ability to be precise about identifying possible outcomes and assessing the probability of any of those outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability or experience proactively engaging business partners and understanding business goals and metrics
  • Sound understanding of the litigation process and the ability to create effective, detailed, and comprehensive legal strategies
  • Ability to perform a coverage analysis in multiple jurisdictions

Compensation

  • $109,300 - $156,100/year
  • Gainshare bonus up to 40% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
  • Participation in our restricted stock units plan

Location

  • Remote work is available.
  • The claims attorney must be willing and able to support customers in Missouri. You may occasionally be asked to travel to a Progressive office. You will also be asked to travel to attend meetings, mediations, and court proceedings.
