How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Company is seeking an experienced labor and employment attorney to serve as a subject matter expert responsible for advising on labor and employment law matters, labor and employment litigation management and other matters as may be assigned from time to time. This position is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney to work for a multinational company that is a market leader in its industry.

I ncludes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to management and HR professionals on all aspects of labor and employment-related issues, including hiring and termination, harassment, discrimination and retaliation, leaves of absence, wage and hour, restrictive covenants, conflicts of interest, independent contractor, employee investigations, and advice in connection with collective bargaining agreements
  • Manage labor and employment dispute (litigation and arbitration) and pre-dispute matters, including reviewing pleadings, developing strategy with outside counsel, facilitating the gathering of information (documents, interviews), and making strategic recommendations at key stages
  • Manage outside counsel representing the Company in labor and employment disputes, including efficient management of expenses and outside counsel fees
  • Investigate and represent the Company at the administrative level (EEOC, DOL, equivalent state and local agencies). Prepare position statements and involve outside counsel, when appropriate
  • Review involuntary terminations and draft separation packages, as appropriate
  • Serve as the Secretary of the company’s Employee Benefits Committee
  • Provide advice to business units regarding risk mitigation strategies
  • Provide guidance on best practices pursuant to legal guidelines
  • Provide legal advice regarding company benefit plans
  • Conduct legal research and stay up-to-date on changes in employment and labor laws and provide tailored advice to stakeholders on any policy, process or other change
  • Provide legal advice in ethics investigations; may be asked to serve as lead investigator in high-level or sensitive matters

Are you a MATCH?

Required Education:

  • JD from a well-regarded, U.S. accredited law school required

Required Length & Type of Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in labor and/or employment law and litigation
  • Experience in relevant function with another major corporation or law firm preferred
  • Experience with labor and / or employment and benefits matters required
  • Current bar membership in a U.S. jurisdiction required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities within deadlines without significant direct supervision
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Detail-oriented individual with ability to function independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact at all levels of the organization, including senior management
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Google suite
  • Ability to travel occasionally
