The Opportunity

The Associate Contracts Manager in the Research Contracts Group processes/completes a high volume of Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) (up to 400/year), consulting agreements, grants, data access agreements and CDAs.  The role also involves communication with Research scientists, leadership, internal legal counsel, outside technology transfer offices, academic scientists, and internal shipping/material supply teams.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and oversee the entire lifecycle of the Outgoing MTA Program and provide support for the grants program including: Processing a large quantity of Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs); Managing consulting agreements, grants, data access agreements, and CDAs within the Research Contracts Group; Organize and process signatures for agreements following approved procedures.

  • Handle post-execution tasks, including filing agreements, completing data records in databases, initiating shipments, and addressing shipping issues.

  • Manage a high volume of email correspondence.

  • Interact and articulate salient points and status of agreements to internal stakeholders, leadership, Legal, outside technology transfer offices, and academic scientists.

  • Provide general operational assistance and project coordination for assigned projects under the direction of the manager.

  • Assist with financial post-execution processes, including working with finance and procurement for Purchase Order generation.

  • Fulfill general administrative responsibilities, including using DocuSign, coordinating meetings, data entry, maintain accurate records and tracking status in the MTA and Contract Databases.

 

Who you are

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience. 

  • Contracts Management experience including drafting and negotiating agreements.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to follow existing processes to solve problems in addition to independently proposing solutions.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills.

  • Detail oriented, team player attitude, high work ethic, and reliable.

  • Comfortable working with databases and enterprise business systems, standard office suites such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Applications (Mail, Calendar, Documents, etc.).

  • Demonstrated Critical Thinking Skills: Must be able to use independent thinking to solve problems and propose solutions independently, even if they moderately deviate from protocols and guidance.

 

Preferred:

  • Degree in a scientific, business, or legal discipline. Scientific training or education a plus.

  • Work experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech and/or academic/scientific setting.

  • Experience working with budgets, iHCPs, and FMV a plus

The functional title for this role is “Associate Contract Manager” however the internal title used for this position is “Associate Project Manager”.

Relocation benefits are not available for this posting

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $81,900 to $152,100.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
