About The Role

The Chief Compliance Officer of Robinhood Money will manage and grow a scalable money services compliance program and team. You will spearhead the management of our Robinhood Money Compliance program, and serve as the point of contact to regulators and internal teams for our credit, debit and P2P businesses. In this role, you will design and implement Robinhood Money’s policies and procedures and a system of controls. You will also build AML and Risk programs and assessments leveraging technology. You’ll ensure our teams and processes meet the high standards of our internal policies and regulatory guidance, including but not limited to NYDFS Part 500 and 504 requirements. You will also oversee all US state regulatory reporting and US state license renewals. Lastly, you will champion a culture of compliance and serve as an advisor for Robinhood Money’s operations and technical teams.

As Chief Compliance Officer, Money You'll

  • Build, lead, and scale a compliance program and team, including managing state regulatory audits, money transmitter compliance, AML and Sanctions and consumer protection compliance
  • Collaborate with our product, engineering, compliance, and treasury teams to launch, improve and scale Robinhood products, tools, and systems
  • Partner with your team to understand our regulatory requirements and develop creative, risk-based solutions, policies, and programs
  • Set direction and provide strategic and tactical support for all elements of the AML Compliance program including Know Your Customer, transaction monitoring and SAR filing
  • Advise management, operations and cross-functional stakeholders on new and existing regulations and compliance best practices
  • Design and administer Robinhood Money’s compliance policies and procedures to comply with laws, regulations and firm policy
  • Create a continuous loop of controls and process improvement, including designing, testing and improving new controls or new compliance processes
  • Manage regulatory relationships, inquiries and exams in coordination with Legal
  • Understand and stay current on the evolving regulatory landscape and requirements
  • Manage the engagement of third party firms, performing any policies/procedural reviews and audits; evaluate risk-mitigation vendor capabilities
  • Coordinate compliance roles and responsibilities with the enterprise compliance team and closely coordinate with the CCOs of Robinhood Markets, Financial, Clearing and Crypto

  • 10+ years experience in building and scaling compliance functions in financial services
  • Prior experience working directly with regulators and financial institutions
  • Execution oriented mindset with the humility, drive, and scrappiness to get things done
  • Ability to think critically and apply problem-solving skills to resolve issues and implement process improvements
  • Trustworthy, self-motivated and able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood’s equity plan. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

$255,000—$300,000 USD

Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL)

$224,000—$264,000 USD

Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL)

$199,000—$234,000 USD
