What you will be doing:

  • Advise, draft, review and negotiate data protection agreements/clauses with vendors and clients.

  • Create and maintain contract templates and on-boarding procedures to mitigate legal and business risk, and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of legal contracting.

  • Analyse and keep up-to-date on privacy legal developments that will impact the business, its clients and the sector.

  • Support the implementation of the Global Privacy and Information Security Governance, Risk and Compliance Framework and all other privacy related policies and procedures of the business

  • Support new projects, applications and systems on the privacy implications and compliance requirements, with emphasis on privacy by default and design requirements and assessing privacy risks.

  • Support Data Protection / Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs) as required.

  • Supporting on management of Privacy Incidents from end to end (including documentation on Privacy Management Platform (OneTrust) and ensuring business’ compliance with all relevant privacy legal requirements).

  • Deal with ad hoc activities as assigned by members of the Privacy Department and any other duties commensurate with the role. 

  • Promote and help embed the Global Privacy Standards, as well as general privacy and information security awareness, within the culture and practice of the business.

What we hope you will bring to this role:

  • Fully qualified lawyer/attorney/solicitor, with minimum 2+ years’ post qualification experience in commercial contracts.

  • CIPP US and / or CIPP E an advantage.

Additional Experience:

Please note: This role is solely focused on privacy law however we would support an experienced contracts lawyer in obtaining privacy training and qualifications.

  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts. Experience in negotiating data protection / privacy clauses of commercial contracts an advantage.

  • An in-depth understanding of relevant legal issues such as commercial law including contract, corporate structures, IPR and contested matters. Understanding of privacy laws an advantage.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to translate complex legal concepts for a non-legal audience.

  • Ability to give commercially practical legal advice that balances and protects the actual risks to the business.

  • Ability to plan large workloads and execute implementation to plan.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform consistently under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.

  • Ability to present alternative and proposed solutions.

  • Outstanding people and relationship building skills.

  • Good performance management and resource management skills.

  • Ability to foster and maintain a strong team ethic and culture of continuous improvement.

  • Diversity/cultural awareness.

  • Hardworking, flexible and willing to be available when required to support the business' global offices and deadlines.

Compensation Range:

The annual salary range for this role is: $145,000-$165,000
