The Senior Compliance Analyst provides compliance support for enterprise compliance programs which includes assisting impacted business areas and key stakeholders with identifying and interpreting applicable requirements, assessing risks, documenting tasks, creating controls, assigning roles/accountability, and conducting monitoring and oversight to ensure compliance. This may also include assistance with establishing procedures/processes, developing messaging and awareness (training), and facilitating/leading cross-functional teams on key compliance initiatives. The Senior Corporate Compliance Analyst also supports administration of the enterprise compliance tracking tool and assist with reporting and data analytics.

 

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary contact to support one or more of the following compliance areas: Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), state regulatory, data privacy, records and information management, federal contracting, and Dodd-Frank

  • Partners with key stakeholders and impacted business areas to ensure that applicable compliance requirements are identified, communicated, and that the appropriate accountability/ownership is assigned

  • Reviews, tracks, and resolves compliance issues using a compliance tracking tool, including any mitigation/remediation actions

  • Provides support and guidance to business areas for developing, supporting, and promoting sound compliance practices to meet requirements

  • Understands the laws, rules, and regulations that govern compliance and assists the business with interpreting and/or obtaining internal subject matter expert support to establish the appropriate processes and controls to ensure compliance

  • Reviews, assesses risks, and works with impacted business areas to prioritize and prepare for emerging and/or changing compliance requirements

  • Coordinates with subject matter experts to understand roles/responsibilities and assists with communicating expectations for meeting compliance requirements

  • Promotes open dialogue between business areas, Legal team, and Corporate Compliance to encourage collaboration and build strong partnerships 

  • Uses reasoning and logic to gather data and draw appropriate conclusions based on issues and/or events

 

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years related work experience

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in related field

  • Two plus years of experience in regulatory compliance, supply chain, risk management, audit, accounting/finance, or other relevant positions

  • Experience interpreting and working with laws and regulatory requirements

  • Experience working with all levels of the organization

  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment to effectively interpret and resolve complex issues

  • Experience facilitating, building consensus, influencing, and/or negotiating with stakeholders to meet business needs and satisfy compliance requirements

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and pivot to meet deadlines and emerging issues

  • Experiencing developing guidelines and procedures that are clear, concise, and applicable to the audience

  • Ability to assess issues, apply logic based on research, make recommendations, and implement a solution

  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills through presentations and other formal mechanisms

  • Experience developing and conducting training

  • Willingness to engage and take initiative

  • Data analytics experience

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Strong analytical and project management skills

  • Experience with PowerBI and/or other reporting applications

  • Experience working with compliance tracking tool

  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

 

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to the assigned Duke Energy facility.
