As Managing Corporate Counsel , you will drive the implementation of department goals to align with corporate strategy, ensuring that processes and standards meet business, technology, security, and compliance requirements. You will lead and deliver improvement projects across departments and functions to achieve business and corporate objectives. You will prepare and supervise the preparation of legal documents, including testimony, briefs, arguments, and pleadings. Additionally, you will identify and address regulatory or external stakeholder issues, developing strategic positions to guide teams toward achieving desired results.

We are looking for exceptional, highly collaborative candidates with demonstrated ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks, manage stakeholders, and strategically align resources. Previous regulatory experience in the energy industry is a plus but not required.

In one year as a Managing Corporate Counsel , you will know you were successful if you:

  • Influence and negotiate agreements with customers and stakeholders to meet business objectives through effective networking and problem-solving. Provide leadership across all levels of the organization, demonstrating discretion and political sensitivity while coaching attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure effective communication and operational excellence.
  • Partner with and provide coaching to attorneys, paralegals, law clerks, and administrative staff to ensure effective communication, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service.
  • Engage in long-term planning and determine the best budgetary and resource mix to meet business objectives.
  • Manage and measure process, system, and team performance to ensure operational excellence, leading cross-functional improvement projects to meet corporate objectives.

If you are a highly collaborative candidate with a demonstrated ability to strategically align resources, manage stakeholders, and provide expert legal counsel, we want you on our team.

What we are looking for:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
  • License to practice law in any US state or the District of Columbia (Indiana licensure required within 18 months)
  • 7-10+ years of related legal experience

What we would prefer:

  • Previous demonstrated leadership experience
  • Knowledge of FERC policies and procedures
  • Regulatory or energy industry experience

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
