Snyk is a developer security platform that makes it easy for development teams to find, prioritize, and fix security vulnerabilities in code, dependencies, containers, and cloud infrastructure — and do it all right from the start. Snyk is on a mission to make the world a more secure place by empowering developers to develop fast and stay secure.

Joining Snyk means embracing our core values: One Team, Care Deeply, Customer Centric, and Forward Thinking. As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to thrive in a dynamic environment where fostering collaboration, leading with empathy, driving business impact, and inspiring trust are at the heart of everything we do.

Our Opportunity

Snyk is looking for a commercial attorney with an entrepreneurial mindset to support our sales, business development, and procurement teams and advise on a broad range of commercial transactions with commercially-driven legal advice, strong drafting skills, privacy experience, experience in a B2B SaaS environment, and a “can-do” work ethic. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional team members from around the globe, including in Finance, GTM, Sales Operations, Product, Marketing, and Procurement. Your approach is pragmatic, customer-focused and collaborative – your goal is to reduce friction and enable the business and its customers. You have contract drafting and business negotiation skills gained in both private practice and in-house.

You’ll use that knowledge to negotiate and draft agreements with all types of customers, from SMB to enterprise to the US government, as well as with channel partners and vendors. You are a motivated self-starter and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You are willing to learn and pick up anything that gets thrown your way. In your mind, there is no job too big or too small for you. You just want to be part of a team that gets stuff done. You have dedication and commitment to our customers, shareholders, employees and families and local communities.

You’ll Spend Your Time

  • Drafting, reviewing, structuring, and closing a broad range of commercial agreements, including Snyk SaaS Agreements, license agreements, DPAs, NDAs, enterprise customer agreements, partner agreements and US Federal Government contracts.
  • Collaborating with the internal legal and sales teams, updating legal playbooks and improving contracting documents and processes.

  • Assisting with legal department projects, including efforts to develop, implement and enhance processes that improve transaction velocity without material increases in risk.
  • Working closely with our Contracts Manager responsible for GTM Operations and Deal Desk on processes and CRM tools for negotiating sales agreements at scale, including playbooks and pre-approved terms.
  • Assisting with privacy and product-related matters as needed.
  • Aiding in the development and implementation of processes, procedures and metrics (including efficient contracting processes) to increase the overall effectiveness of the legal services.

What You’ll Need

  • 7+ years commercial experience, of which a minimum of two years has been spent in-house at a high-growth software (SaaS) company.
  • Experience in drafting and advising clients on technology-related commercial agreements, including software licensing, strategic partnerships, reseller arrangements, and data processing agreements.
  • To recognize that success as a commercial lawyer is rooted in a fundamental understanding of the functionality of the products.
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities and tasks while remaining cheerful and resilient.
  • Strong communication skills, especially communicating legal concepts in non-legal language to non-lawyers in a clear and concise way.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational and project management skills.
  • To be a proactive, driven, adaptable person who can, with poise and patience, prioritize and balance multiple projects, path-find, and calibrate advice in view of shifting priorities, legal developments, and risk tolerance.

  • SaaS security industry experience.
  • Experience with US Federal Government contracting and an understanding of FedRAMP.
