We expect to hire an experienced Compliance professional who has previously held key roles in providing compliance process guidance, deploying and maintaining evergreen Compliance frameworks within similarly large, complex corporate enterprises or organizations.

The Compliance professional should have key subject matter experience including Anti-Bribery and Corruption (US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and various international equivalent legislations), Conflicts of Interest, as well as U.S. Antiboycott, International Trade and Antitrust/Competition Law reporting.

The Americas Compliance team is part of a broader, regional Corporate Compliance function supporting all aspects of the business Chevron Value Chain and other Corporate functions in the Americas region.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • The position is expected to have strong work experience providing guidance on compliance procedures for antibribery, conflict of interest, and be able to assist the business with identifying other compliance risks.
  • The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical capabilities, excellent subject matter expertise and judgment to identify issues and elevate as may be necessary.
  • The position is expected to have strong presentation skills to provide training to personnel as may be requested.
  • To undertake and review due diligence activity to assess and where necessary, mitigate compliance risks identified with third parties.
  • Developing a strong understanding of underlying activities of the business and other relevant support functions to respond to stakeholders and ensure compliance with matters of compliance sensitivity.
  • Compliance vetting activities require active coordination between business stakeholders, HQ contacts, and in-house legal counsel. Highly effective time management, communication and organizational skill are essential in ensuring matters are resolved in an effective and timely manner.
  • The role also includes coordination and preparation of Compliance Committee reporting materials as deemed necessary by Regional Compliance Manager. This includes: the development and preparation of key performance metrics (e.g. sensitive transactions, compliance training completions, conflicts of interest disclosures, Internal Audit closure performance) and other key indicators that may be required; assessing and analyzing the Business’ compliance environment, identifying issues, making recommendations on corrective actions and ensuring those actions are implemented in a timely manner; and summarizing annual Risk Assessments, Compliance Representation Letters and other supporting documentation involving Non-Operated Joint Venture interests.
  • The role monitors audit reports issued by Chevron’s Corporate Audit function and ensures follow-up and suitable closure of any Audit observations which indicate business processes are not aligned with Corporate Compliance expectations.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Business, Communications
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar capacity with a large international company; or similar experience in a professional services audit or consultancy environment (e.g., Big 4).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post graduate professional designation (e.g., CPA, Chartered Accountant, CIA, MBA)

Work Locations

The positions will be located in either our San Ramon, California or Houston, Texas offices. Location is dependent on current residency of candidate.

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $87,100– $149,500. The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
