What we do: The role of Senior Privacy Counsel is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing international legal team working on unique legal issues at the forefront of the adtech industry in a vibrant, fast-paced environment. You will be part of a global company that is building the critical, privacy-focused technologies which will replace third party cookies and build a trusted advertising ecosystem for the open internet.

What you'll do:

  • Identify, research, analyze, and advise teams on a wide range of data privacy issues and risks.
  • Interact with external partners seeking information about our privacy practices, and help them understand and align with The Trade Desk’s privacy compliance positions.
  • Help maintain privacy disclosures and records, such as privacy policies and records of processing activities, and help respond to data subject requests.
  • Keep abreast of evolving privacy laws that may affect the company globally, particularly in Asia-Pacific regions. This is an opportunity for the right candidate to develop expertise in APAC privacy and to potentially take responsibility for our APAC privacy program.
  • Continually improve our legal processes to help us scale globally with a consistent but locally relevant approach.

Who you are:

As a talented and self-motivated legal professional, you will work extensively with other members of the legal team and with members of the business across all functional areas to help ensure privacy compliance and risk management. You will advise internal business clients on a wide range of privacy matters, and you will also interact externally with our commercial partners seeking information about our privacy compliance positions.

You must be able to exercise sound, independent legal judgment in high-stakes circumstances and must have a proven ability to work collaboratively with business counterparts by translating complex legal and privacy issues into practical and creative solutions.

You will be both professionally and personally engaged in keeping up to date with the ever-changing privacy landscape related to advertising technology globally.

Education: J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school. Bar: Must be a member in good standing of an applicable state.

Experience:

  • 6+ years of legal experience.
  • Experience advising clients on privacy matters and global privacy laws & regulations (such as CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and other international data protection frameworks).
  • Experience maintaining privacy disclosures and records, such as privacy policies and records of processing activities.
  • Experience understanding and working with highly complex dataflows and elaborate technology.
  • Familiarity with legal issues impacting the digital advertising ecosystem is preferred.
  • An interest in privacy legislation in APAC regions is a plus.

  • A background in advertising and/or digital media is preferred, but not required; international experience is a plus.

The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is

$136,300—$249,900 USD
