Commercial Management Department

The Commercial Management team is responsible for deal analysis and underwriting, pricing strategy, and revenue operations for the North America business. The team drives the business plans and execution of our geographic and vertical market expansions and underwrites all commercial opportunities to ensure optimal revenue realization and investment outcomes. The Commercial Management team partners with Market Development, Sales, Technology, Construction, Operations, Legal, Finance, Senior Management and the Board.

 

Position Overview

Vantage seeks a Director of Commercial Management, which is a highly impactful and cross-functional role that will lead the complete underwriting of customer opportunities to ensure new contracts are aligned with Vantage’s broader strategic objectives. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in both contract negotiation and financial modeling and possess the ability to lead cross-functional teams optimally, influence decision-making, and drive consensus among partners.

 

Critical elements of the role include comprehensive due diligence, financial modeling, risk identification and mitigation, collaboration with customers, Sales, Legal, and other internal and external partners. The ideal candidate will be an autonomous self-starter, capable of delivering results on multiple projects and priorities without constant direction. Teamwork, adaptability, and emotional intelligence are essential for collaborating with diverse teams and navigating complex negotiations effectively. You should have a professional-growth mindset and bring forth ideas to innovate, proactively identify new opportunities or improve existing processes.

 

This position will be based on-site at our office in Denver, CO. in alignment with our flexible work policy. (3 days on site required, 2 days flexible).

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Drive and own underwriting and due diligence of new customer opportunities; identify key risks in concert with internal partners to evaluate overall deal structure and make recommendations on contract negotiation strategy.

  • Build complex financial models for new deals to support your recommendations, including sensitivities and contemplation of multiple scenarios.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Legal, New Site Development, Construction, Utility Infrastructure, Site Selection, Public Policy, Tax, Market Strategy, Finance, Marketing, and third parties to gather partner inputs and refine for executive consumption.

  • Make recommendations to mitigate risk for new opportunities and enable informed executive decision making.

  • Actively participate in customer lease and new site acquisition negotiations to position key deal terms and support Sales and Site Selection in negotiations on highly complex deal terms.

  • Review contracts to ensure deal terms are representative of business threshold requirements while also meeting customer demands.

  • Prepare reports for the leadership team offering insight into contract risks, returns, trends, and other metrics.

  • Produce collateral to pitch new opportunities to customers.

  • Additional duties as assigned by Management

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, real estate, and/or equivalent experience, required.

  • MBA and/or JD strongly preferred.

  • 5-10 years of professional experience in contract negotiation, due diligence, or finance related role with extensive financial modeling experience (investment banking, capital markets, consulting, etc.), required.

  • Data Center and/or commercial or industrial real estate experience, preferred.

  • Strong analytical mind, problem solving skills, quantitative / qualitative abilities, and modelling skills, required.

  • Self-starter, ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple tasks at once.

  • Demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail and an ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Executive presence and effective communication skills, required.

Additional Information  

  • Salary Range: $165,000 - $195,000 base + bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
