AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant General Counsel to join our Legal team. This position involves supporting senior leaders in sales, marketing, and business development, with a focus on customer and business partner engagements. The role also includes serving as product counsel to engineering teams, providing guidance on advanced technologies, including AI-driven solutions. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the company’s success by ensuring legal compliance and supporting the development of cutting-edge innovations. THE PERSON: The ideal candidate is a collaborative and solution-oriented attorney with expertise in intellectual property law and technology transactions. They demonstrate strong judgment, simplify complex legal concepts, and effectively balance legal and business considerations. Exceptional organizational and communication skills are essential, enabling them to manage competing priorities and foster positive stakeholder relationships. Intellectual curiosity and a proactive mindset are key attributes for success in this role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Primary legal support and counsel for senior business and engineering leaders.Draft, negotiate, and advise on agreements for product sales, custom hardware and IP development services, and technology licenses.Coordinate deal negotiations with internal stakeholders, including engineering, finance, tax, operations, quality, and export control.Counsel on contract terms, compliance matters, and dispute resolution.Advise on compliance for the use of open-source software and AI.Draft, negotiate, and provide counsel on software and technology license agreements.Develop and deliver internal policies and training on legal and compliance topics.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Demonstrated experience as an attorney, including both law firm and in-house roles supporting senior management.Expertise in technology transactions, intellectual property law, and software (including open-source) licensing.Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, from senior leaders to technical and business teams.Strong background in the computing or semiconductor industry is highly desirable.ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:Juris Doctor degree (JD).Active membership in a U.S. state bar (California bar membership preferred).LOCATION:San Jose, CA At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.
