Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Specialist to join our team under a 1-year contract with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT). This role is ideal for an individual with at least one year of relevant experience in IT support, who is ready to leverage their technical expertise in a dynamic environment serving over 10,000 users. The position will initially allow for remote work, transitioning to onsite as required following staff return.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior technical resource for desktop applications, assisting a vast user base.
  • Evaluate IT incidents and service desk tickets to prioritize and manage business impacts effectively.
  • Provide support for end-user password resets and deliver guidance on basic application functionalities.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of processes and procedures for operational standards.
  • Collaborate with application development and network infrastructure teams to address user-level issues and identify solutions.
  • Lead projects that require coordination of team efforts to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Uphold security policies and ensure data protection in line with IT standards.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of desktop applications and IT support processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical users.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software, as well as network-related issues.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar call tracking systems.
  • Ability to manage critical incidents and apply effective problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience in IT support or related fields.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking protocols.
  • Proven track record of mentoring peers and fostering positive customer relationships.
  • Experience working with state or local government systems is a plus.
