Description

Amazon’s Legal Department is seeking a talented and experienced product safety and compliance attorney to support Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS provides Innovative cloud computing services and IT infrastructure to public and private clients around the globe, including on-demand compute capacity, data storage, machine learning, and more. The successful candidate will join the AWS Legal Regulatory Risk Management & Compliance team, focusing on product safety and compliance across a diverse array of hardware in AWS’s global data center infrastructure. You will be part of a team that counsels Amazon’s cloud business on a broad range of regulatory, sustainability, environmental, trade, safety and compliance matters.

Key job responsibilities

  • Working cross-functionally with business and technical teams to shape our operational compliance strategy
  • Advising the business on trends and upcoming regulatory changes and how to influence them
  • Driving global harmony across program areas
  • Counseling compliance partner teams on cross-regional issues that arise throughout the supply chain and infrastructure life cycle (from region expansion to operations and decommissioning)
  • Advising on regulations concerning the design, development, manufacture, procurement, distribution, use and disposition of novel data center equipment and innovative devices
  • Working directly with various AWS business functions, including supply chain, procurement, design, engineering, product safety, construction and operations
  • Collaborating with attorneys across the globe (and throughout Amazon) to develop innovative solutions

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • Experience working independently and directly with all levels of legal and business partners or equivalent
  • 3+ years of legal experience with global regulations attaching to the manufacture, sale, distribution, use, handling, and disposition of hardware products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with global chemicals regulations
  • A combination of law firm, in-house, or government experience
  • Common sense, strong organizational and project management skills, and a good sense of humor

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
