Title: In-House Paralegal

Reporting to General Counsel

Location: Orange, CT

Work Type: Office

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $69, 260 to $86,576

Job Description

The In-House Paralegal will assist the company's legal department in various ways on a wide range of issues. The ideal candidate should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent organizational skills essential for day-to-day tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support internal legal team of 5-7 attorneys.
  • Assist with the management of litigation matters, including communication and collaboration with outside counsel, organizing documents, and maintaining litigation databases.
  • Support the business with research projects, contract review and negotiations, and the drafting of agreements, documents for filings, and letters on a variety of issues, including FERC, regulatory, transactional, and real estate matters.
  • Handle contracts such as confidentiality agreements, professional service contracts, and letter agreements.
  • Support regulatory work for electric and gas utilities, including assisting with rate cases, preparing regulatory filings, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

Required Education/Experience/Training

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Paralegal Studies or a relevant field of study plus 7+ years of experience.
  • Experience at a law firm with 10+ attorneys or in the legal department of a large company.
  • Knowledge and experience in conducting legal research and use of generative AI tools for research and writing.

Preferred Education/Experience/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or relevant field of study with 7+ years of experience.
  • Litigation or regulatory administrative law focus preferred.
  • Six Sigma or Lean training or certification preferred.

Required Software Skills

  • Proficiency in legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Familiarity with document management systems.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with case management software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentation purposes.
