Overview
Under the supervision of the Director of Risk & Corporate Compliance, this position will assist members of CPI’s Legal and Compliance Department with various compliance management tasks and initiatives, including, but not limited to, compliance project organization and management, liaising with legal, procurement, operations and internal and external business partners regarding compliance related matters, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Project management and coordination of compliance related initiatives and projects, including performing due diligence and preparing due diligence lists and tracker spreadsheets, scheduling meetings and following-up with internal stakeholders, and assisting with overall project plans.
- Assist with design, evaluation and oversight of compliance programs.
- Work with external parties, such as auditors and outside counsel, to coordinate compliance program related reviews. Communicate requirements to impacted business areas and facilitate reviews. Resolve issues and concerns identified during same and escalate appropriately.
- Identify and evaluate compliance risks, internal controls which mitigate risks and related opportunities for internal control improvement.
- Provide compliance guidance to CPI personnel at all levels.
- Work with Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and other members of the Legal Department on special projects and initiatives and other appropriate functions, including public company corporate governance matters, as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience as a compliance professional.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills: analyze a situation and develop solutions to problems; exercise sound judgment.
- Detail oriented, organized, and prioritizing skills; balance competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of legal and compliance principles and terminology.
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and strong proficiency with computers and general office procedures and clerical processes.
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
- Ability to work independently with little oversight, with the judgment to know when to raise concerns that require further attention.
- Positive, team-oriented approach to the task at hand. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies to work toward appropriate, risk-based solutions.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and with diverse teams; ability to clearly articulate and present complex advice to executives, other employees and external constituencies.
