How You’ll Contribute
As Corporate Cousnel, you will be an attorney joining the Brighthouse Legal Department to be part of a team that provides day-to-day support with respect to insurance products registered, or exempt, as securities under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and/or the Securities Act of 1933.
In This Role, You’ll Get To
Provide legal support for all aspects of legal and regulatory matters under the federal securities laws including preparing registration statement filings and supplemental filings for variable annuity, variable life, registered index-linked annuities, registered index-linked life, registered fixed products and private placement products. Provide advice and counsel with respect to development, administration, operation and marketing of registered insurance products including related regulatory and legislative issues.Participate in review of contract, policy, rider, endorsement, application, administrative forms, as well as business requirements and specifications for new products, product changes or enhancements. Prepare and negotiate contracts such as participation agreements for certain underlying funds.Prepare and oversee drafting of various regulatory filings such as Form D, Form 24f-2, Form N-CEN and Form N-30D. Provide support on the electronic document management platform, ArcPro and WorkFlow, used to create and update registration statements.
We’re Looking For People Who Have
Juris doctorate from an accredited law school; admitted to practice before a state bar association. At least 5 years of securities law experience (insurance or mutual fund law) practicing in-house or at a law firm.Experience interacting with clients and managing or escalating questions or issues as appropriate; strong oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and organizational skills; and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.Excellent time management, ability to prioritize and detail oriented. Strong sense of urgency, with the ability to identify and articulate issues, offer solutions and follow-through to resolution.Preferred experience with electronic document management systems such as ArcPro or Toppan Merrill.
