We are looking for a talented, business-oriented, and dynamic attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will provide high-level legal advice across various business operations, manage complex legal matters, oversee a team of legal professionals, and act as the GC's primary delegate when necessary.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of agreements Work with business stakeholders and provide input on new initiatives including strategic alliances, consumer and community engagement projects, and innovative monetization opportunities Review proposed online forms, disclosures, and marketing materials to ensure compliance with international, federal, and state laws, as well as best industry practices Assist with developing and drafting company policies, compliance guides, and processes. Standardize templates, legal policies, and processes where possible to improve the efficiency of legal services to business units Analyze legal risks and opportunities, advising on potential legal implications of business decisions Lead and manage a team of attorneys, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and oversight to ensure high-quality legal services Delegate legal matters to appropriate team members based on expertise and complexity Monitor legal projects and ensure timely completion of deliverables Familiarity with data privacy/data security laws, although a deep understanding/expertise is not required
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Ability to find creative solutions to help the business get to “yes” while understanding when to flag high-risk issues that need to be escalated. Ability to handle a high volume of work with no supervision and to assess risk, make decisions, and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines. Ability to build strong internal client relationships with partners at all levels, effectively advise senior-level executives and produce strong client and partner satisfaction through practical and strategic thinking.
Additional Requirements
Juris Doctor from a reputable law school. Active and in good standing with a state bar. 15 years practicing law with a top-tier regional or national law firm or in a corporate legal department of a large company (or a combination of both). Senior management experience The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced, fluid, and high-performing culture, preferably at a media company Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
The annualized base salary for this role will range between $280,000 and $310,000. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications, and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
