The Deputy Compliance Officer role will help lead the Company’s Trust and Compliance Program, reporting to the Chief Counsel, Enterprise and working closely with other cross functional teams including the Legal, Clinical, Commercial, Marketing, Engineering, Regulatory, Quality, and Finance functions to develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive program that meets all applicable regulatory requirements and applicable industry standards. You will provide compliance advice and counseling relevant to the development and commercialization of groundbreaking healthcare products and services. This role, together with other members of the Trust & Compliance team, will promote an enterprise-wide culture of compliance ensuring that the the Board of Directors, management, and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, that company policies and procedures are being followed, and that behavior in the organization meets the company's ethical standards.
Provide strategic guidance to internal business teams on compliance issues, policies and standards.
Maintain and continuously improve the Company’s Compliance Program, including the creation, review and revision of policies and procedures to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct.
Identify, evaluate and monitor risk areas, providing business leaders with information they need to make critical decisions, as well as identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with leadership throughout the Company to institute and maintain an effective, global compliance communication program, including promoting: (a) heightened awareness of Code of Conduct, (b) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures, and (c) reporting of compliance related concerns.
Coordinate the investigation of and response to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; directly manage compliance related investigations; ensure reporting of violations or potential violations to appropriate agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
JD degree.
10+ years of compliance, legal or regulatory risk management advisory experience.
Significant experience in life sciences, medical device, or healthcare industry.
Broad and thorough knowledge of all components of effective compliance programs.
Experience with issues and challenges facing the commercial, research and clinical components of an organization with a full understanding of, and ability to adopt, global compliance efforts to effectively respond to legal/regulatory changes and technological trends.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 5 years of relevant experience in-house.
Prior experience at a relevant government agency.
Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with and influence people at all organizational levels of the company, including senior management and executive leadership.
Strong record of integrity, strict confidentiality, sound judgment, and experience in clearly advising leadership on sensitive issues.
Experience with GDPR and other international privacy laws and global trade compliance laws.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $216,000 - $320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
