The Vice President of Compliance and Legal Affairs will lead all aspects of legal and regulatory compliance for Community Hospital. This leader will ensure that the organization complies with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies. The role involves developing and providing expert legal guidance on agreements, overseeing the organization's compliance program, and fostering a culture of ethical practices across all operations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of the organizations compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory adherence.Serve as the primary legal advisor to the executive team on matters including contracts, litigation, and regulatory concerns.Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, developing corrective action plans to avoid recurrence.Oversee internal audits and investigations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.Maintain current knowledge of changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and industry standards, and assess their impact on the organization.Lead the legal review of contracts, agreements, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives.Manage relationships with external legal counsel as needed.Work cross-functionally to educate staff and leadership on legal and compliance matters, promoting a culture of ethical practice.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Active license to practice law in Colorado or the ability to obtain it.Minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal and/or compliance role, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.Extensive knowledge of healthcare regulatory compliance, including HIPAA, Stark Law, and Anti-Kickback Statute.Strong experience negotiating, drafting, and managing contracts.Demonstrated experience handling complex legal issues and risk mitigation.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or similar credential.Experience in healthcare, hospital, or similar regulated industries.
