Overview
AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., a fast-growing commercial insurance company, has an immediate need for an in-house Workers' Compensation Paralegal. This position is hybrid out of our Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire or New York offices.
Responsibilities
Answer inbound main line phone calls and route inquiries to correct team member Retrieve, scan, and route all incoming mail to proper team and Claims Monitor and process office electronic mailbox correspondence Ability to flag critical documents requiring timely responses and appearances Manage and prioritize competing deadlines Process outbound USPS/FedEx mail Coordinate/schedule meetings, hearings, appointments, and depositions Assist in the preparation for trials, including trial notebooks, exhibits, subpoenas and witness coordination Communicate with clients, witnesses, adversaries, witnesses, court, and team members Interact with people of all levels of the company as a member of the legal team Capability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-oriented setting Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner Communicate with clients, witnesses, adversaries, witnesses, court, and team members Interact with people of all levels of the company as a member of the legal team Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner Generate draft templates (forms, pleadings, motions, objections, correspondence) for attorney review and approval Assemble medical packets to experts along with itemized schedule of records Provide Legal Assistant support to 1 or more Attorneys Document processing (assemble, copy, scan, serve, E-file accordingly) Communicate with claim partners, clients, witnesses, Court, opposing counsel, vendors, and team members Maintain data integrity in our document management platform supporting our paperless environment (documents, parties, roles/relations, naming conventions) Timely transmit and request payments to vendors, experts, etc. Provide office support as needed (place tickets for failing equipment, order office supplies, assist peers as needed and during PTO)
Qualifications
2+ years of experience as a paralegal 2+ years CT, MA, NH or VT Workers’ Compensation experience Prior workers’ compensation experience supporting multiple attorneys and completing/meeting deadlines Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Experience with a document management platform (Litify a plus) Organized, self- motivated, ability to prioritize and work independently Exceptional attention to details and the production of professional work product Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills Work in a team environment with a positive respectful attitude
