OVERVIEW:
The Corporate Counsel-Employment Attorney will partner with our business to provide practical and actionable support. This position would focus on managing EEOC charges and litigation across the Company in partnership with the Senior Corporate Counsel. The position will also be responsible for responding to legal claims, providing advice and counsel the business, and monitoring state and local laws.
Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with our business teams to provide risk-focused, practical, and actionable support, focusing on providing advice and counsel on employment law matters, including but not limited to ADA, FMLA, discrimination/harassment, and state/local requirements.
- Be directly involved in representing and leading the business on issues such as discrimination/harassment, non-competes, mediations, FMLA and ADA.
- Responsible for management of EEOC and employment law matters, along with responding to federal and state audits. Collaborate and manage both internal and external relationships with outside counsel to provide seamless support to our business team, including alignment of counsel support to meet internal deadlines, prioritization, and risk analysis.
- Lead company wide compliance initiatives and strategies with federal, state, and local employment laws. Responsible for leading and completing company wide trainings related to employment laws.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- JD Degree
- 5-7 years of experience
- Experience in providing legal advice and managing litigation relating to employment. Employment experience should include expertise in FMLA, ADA, and leading mediations.
- Ability to collaborate with our business partners to understand their priorities and challenges.
- Strong leadership skills
- Process- and project management-oriented
- Strong labor and employment background/concentration preferred
- 5+ years of legal experience and managing litigation relating to employment
