The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is actively seeking a skilled Project Manager for a contract position, focusing on Engineering Application Services within the Engineering Design and CADD Services Team. This 12-month engagement involves overseeing multiple ongoing technical projects and contributing to the formulation of technical guidelines and workflows vital for Preconstruction Engineering Design and CADD business processes within the transportation lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Decompose and manage project tasks into well-defined, actionable work items for various ongoing technical initiatives.
- Prioritize and monitor progress on deliverables to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
- Guarantee that deliverables are executed punctually, accompanied by comprehensive and useful documentation for clients.
- Formulate and sustain CADD guidelines and workflows for the efficient administration of Bentley and other CADD systems across the department.
- Document program and project deliverables as assigned, maintaining organized records.
- Collaborate with clients to ensure seamless integration of business processes.
- Develop and present training materials as necessary to enhance staff capabilities.
- Maintain quality control for the comprehensive register of project tasks and deliverables within the team.
Required Skills
- Minimum of three years of project management experience, particularly in IT-related initiatives.
- Demonstrated aptitude for drafting clear and concise technical training documentation.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering a positive working environment.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate business processes to IT users and vice versa.
- Exceptional organizational and presentation capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Familiarity with the application development lifecycle.
- Understanding of NCDOT engineering design processes and transportation lifecycle business processes.
- Experience with AGILE development methodology is preferred.
Qualifications
- A minimum of three years of relevant project management experience, particularly in IT.
- Proven track record of creating effective technical training materials.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
