The Legal & Policy Team is Snap’s dedicated in-house law firm, policy consultant, lobbyist, thought partner, and all-around advisor. Legal Operations is a growing team at Snap with a mission to build, manage, and maintain the processes and technology to enable the Legal team to achieve operational excellence. One of the core mandates is what we call the Law Firm and Matter Management program (“LFMM”) Legal Operations is responsible for supporting the Legal function by handling all the administrative and strategic aspects of procuring and managing critical legal services for Snap. This role will report to the Head of Legal Operations, but work cross-functionally between the Senior Legal Operations Program Managers, Finance, Litigation, and other Snap teams.

What you’ll do:

Manage the full lifecycle of litigation spend: budget, forecasting, accrual, bill review and payment, insurance submission and reimbursement, and reporting. Work cross functionally with the Litigation, Finance and Insurance and Risk teams Interface with law firm service providersWork within the Snap’s Matter Management Software System to keep all object data sources - matters, invoices, budgets, timekeepers - up to date, and configure data fields and data organization to meet Legal and Finance teams requirements. Collaborate closely with team members to ensure law firms and vendors adhere to Snap requirements when it comes to onboarding, invoicing, timekeeper rates, budget forecasting, and FP&A required approvals. Take ownership of the accuracy and completeness of LFMM data - be relentless about tracking down missing / delayed data inputs, and entering them into the system. Coordinate cross functionally between Legal and Finance, and law firms to resolve LFMM issues and win adoption of LFMM policies. Take ownership of LFMM issues, not only to resolve them, but by also proposing process and/or system improvements and see them through to completion. Advise on strategic ad hoc projects and initiatives to make our LFMM program better.

Knowledge, skills, & abilities:

Experience working within a legal billing program at a law firm or corporate legal department. Experience using e-billing and FP&A accounting software, e.g. Brightflag, SimpleLegal, Legal Tracker, Oracle, Ironclad. Understanding of financial and managerial accounting principles. Familiarity with litigation spend and insurance coverage reimbursementHigh level communication skills to train and influence very busy Snap and Law Firm attorneys to complete required actions consistently. Outstanding analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Detail-oriented, business-friendly team player, with an ability to accommodate tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Whip-smart but doesn’t take themselves too seriously. Commitment to acting on one of Snap’s core values - kindness - especially as it relates to other team members. Commitment to a growth mindset - assuming good intent of others, and diligently earning trust through actions demonstrating positivity and accountability.

Minimum Qualifications:

5+ years of legal operation experience, at least some of it handling law firm e-billing scope. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $114,000-$171,000 annually.

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $108,000-$163,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $97,000-$145,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
