Senior Privacy Counsel for Public Policy, Regulatory, and Litigation

The Opportunity
Join Adobe’s Privacy Office and Cybersecurity Legal Team (POCL) in a role focused on privacy issues arising in public policy, regulatory inquiries, and litigation. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the world on groundbreaking privacy questions at the forefront of new and innovative technologies. Bring your passion for privacy and your best ideas!
What you'll do
This role on Adobe’s Privacy Office and Cybersecurity Legal team will serve as the legal subject matter lead for three substantive areas:
Public Policy related to privacy and cybersecurity
Regulatory inquires related to privacy
Privacy and cybersecurity focused litigation
In the Public Policy area you will:
Track and, with our government relations team, work to influence global legislation in the areas of privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity.
Advocate for Adobe’s point of view with industry groups, academics, and law makers.
Proactively implement changes to processes and procedures at Adobe in anticipation of regulatory and business developments.
Coordinate with subject matter experts within POCL and the larger business.
In the Regulatory space you will:
Coordinate responses to internal and external privacy inquiries from regulators and customers.
Work across teams at Adobe to provide expert advice on privacy matters that arise in broader regulatory actions and investigations.
For Privacy and Cybersecurity Focused Litigation, you will:
Be the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for Adobe’s litigation team on all litigation matters related to privacy, data protection and cybersecurity.
Aid the litigation team in fact gathering, development of litigation strategy, and advise on pleadings and other litigation matters.
Minimum qualifications
J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar.
Minimum 8+ years of relevant privacy experience, including prior in-house, government, or law firm experience.
Familiarity with legislative processes in U.S. state and federal government, and the EU. Similar experience with countries in APAC is a plus, as is prior experience working with lobbyists or industry groups in the U.S. or elsewhere.
Litigation and/or investigation experience, particularly as relates to privacy and cybersecurity matters.
Ability to make complex concepts easy to understand while communicating effectively with all levels of the organization.
Understanding of and curiosity about technology products in general and Adobe’s products in particular.
Strategic problem solver with excellent legal and business judgment.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and dedication to integrity.
Experience working collaboratively and successfully with cross-functional teams.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $146,300 -- $315,000 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.
At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
