About the Job
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced attorney to join our Corporate Legal team. This individual will oversee all privacy policies, practices, and compliance activities. This role will partner primarily with our Marketing, Information Technology, and Communications teams. This role will report to the VP, Corporate and Compliance Counsel.
What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
- Advise, review, and make recommendations to customer facing information, marketing, and promotional materials in accordance with applicable rules, policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate compliance risks
- Advise on policies and programs related to loyalty programs, gift cards, SMS and other customer marketing, sweepstakes, and social media
- Advise on privacy policies and guidelines, new privacy and data protection laws and/or other consumer protection regulations, FTC, CCPA, Prop 65 and similar rules
- Develop, maintain, and revise compliance related policies and procedures including record retention
- Support privacy breach management activities including intake, escalation, investigation, and notices
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders regarding data privacy and compliance related topics
- Partner with outside counsel with an eye toward driving business goals and providing world class counseling, while effectively managing time and cost
- Collaborating cross-functionally primarily with Senior Leadership, Marketing, Information Technology, and Communications teams

What You’ll Bring | Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from an accredited law school
- Membership with good standing in at least one U.S. State Bar (membership with California or Texas State Bar preferred)
- 10+ years of legal practice experience. In-house legal experience preferred
- Capable of interacting with, and establishing the respect and confidence of, senior business leaders
- Ability to influence and provide timely and effective legal and business advice and support at all organizational levels
- Demonstrated ability to take manage a high volume of matters at any given time, work well under pressure, successfully handle, and prioritize multiple competing assignments, and effectively manage deadlines
- Business-oriented problem solver and a flexible team player, with ability to partner across departments in order to provide legal support that will enable teams to do business effectively
- Ability to analyze complex matters and propose creative and practical solutions, even in ambiguous situations
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with individuals at various levels
- Professionalism, judgment, personal integrity, and confidentiality

Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
- Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time

- Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment
- Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, from a remote office location

The starting salary for this position is $141,100-$188,100 and may increase to $235,200 depending on merit, length of service with the Company, and other factors. We take into consideration an individual’s skills, background, and experience in determining final salary. Other compensation may include a 20% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus, and a 20% Long Term Incentive Plan bonus paid out according to policy. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
