Role: Senior Corporate Counsel
Location: Telecommuting/remote from within the United States
The Development and Engineering Legal Team (“D&E Legal”) within Oracle's legal department is responsible for providing legal support for all of Oracle’s cloud, software development and hardware engineering organizations worldwide. The Data Initiatives Legal team, a subset of D&E Legal, works closely with Oracle Development executives and key corporate stakeholders to evaluate and provide legal advice with respect to inbound data licensing and Oracle’s data use rights; building and training machine learning models; the development and sale of AI/ML solutions (e.g., generative AI, LLMs, etc.); and applicable regulations and industry standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, the EU AIA, ISO 42001, etc.
DI Legal is responsible for drafting and negotiating data license agreements, service agreements, and other data-related technology transaction agreements with Oracle’s customers and vendors. Counsel coordinates the efforts of various internal organizations to ensure that Oracle contracts and data licenses comply with company policies, and takes a leadership role in defining policies, practices, and procedures regarding Oracle’s development, training and use of AI.
As an individual contributor in the team, you will join a collaborative group of attorneys with an interesting and diverse technology law practice. This position is best suited to an attorney with a significant IP and licensing background who has demonstrated familiarity and experience with the development and use of AI/ML models and solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience drafting and negotiating a variety of technology transactions (data licensing, open source licensing, SaaS agreements, etc.). You should be a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills who can handle a variety of tasks, spot issues and evaluate alternatives quickly, and provide top quality legal assistance and support to executive-level clients in a fast-paced environment. Someone who can quickly make a significant contribution to the group is critical.
