Hourly Rate: $25.96 - $33.70 (Amount based on office location, relevant experience, skills, and competencies)

The Corporate Paralegal I provides support and assistance to the company’s in-house Corporate Litigation group under close attorney supervision.This position will be responsible for using their knowledge and skills to assist and support the defense of adverse litigation and management of regulatory matters.

The Corporate Paralegal I is expected to be knowledgeable about, and supportive of, the company’s mission and values, its policies and procedures and its ethical and compliance standards.The position will report to an attorney and will collaborate with other in-house counsel, paralegals, outside attorneys, and other business teams in pursuit of company goals and objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Support corporate litigation function by assisting attorneys in managing the defense of individual matters and lower risk class actions.   
  • Tasks including but not limited to reviewing legal documents including demands, pleadings, discovery and correspondence and providing summary of findings, drafting settlement agreements, drafting discovery, independently performing extensive analysis, drafting communications identifying findings based on independent research and investigations, running reports and preparing reports via Excel, handling small claims hearings with attorney support, etc.
  • Interact with company's outside counsel and internal employees to perform fact investigations, gather information, documentation or data as required for task at hand, or act as authorized to resolve the identified matter.
  • Identify process improvements to ensure company compliance with legal requirements or to increase department efficiency.
  • Other relevant duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:  Associate's              

EXPERIENCE:  2+ years paralegal experience, or equivalent education and experience.

CERTIFICATION(S):  Paralegal Certificate or equivalent

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES: Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and effectively manage time, and work in a rapidly changing environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  Bachelor's  

EXPERIENCE:  Without a paralegal certificate, 3+ years in a law firm or in-house legal department and willingness to obtain a paralegal certificate. Proficiency in Excel and Power Point.

Prior experience in a corporate setting and an understanding of consumer protection laws, including the FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, etc.
