About This Position
We are looking for a mid-level real estate Attorney to join our dynamic, friendly and innovative Real Estate Legal team. This position will report directly to the Senior Counsel, Real Estate and will have access and regular communications with all functional teams across the organization, including Development, Project Finance, Construction, Operations and Environmental/Permitting.
Responsibilities and Duties
- As part of the in-house real estate legal team, provide and otherwise oversee strategic real estate legal support primarily for M&A acquisition of renewable and data center projects, mid to late-stage renewables development, and project finance transactions, including conducting and responding to due diligence inquiries and overseeing outside law firms in drafting, reviewing and managing real estate agreements and closing deliverables
- Provide general real estate legal support for all aspects of project development, including project design, site control, permitting, interconnection and offtake opportunities, including behind the meter and grid ties data center opportunities
- Manage, develop and oversee internal real estate legal projects and processes as assigned
- Develop legal strategies for new and innovative transactions, including finance structures and site control for new types of renewable projects
- Oversee paralegals, diligence professionals and other legal support staff on the legal real estate team
- Have an entrepreneurial attitude towards development, problem solving and related project support functions
- Participate in other legal tasks of the broader legal team as requested
Qualifications and Skills
- J.D. from accredited law school and current license to practice.
- Ability to work during all Pacific Coast working hours
- 3 or more years experience as a real estate attorney in a law firm or in house setting (in house experience preferred)
- Familiarity with various real estate agreements common in the data center and renewables energy industry, including options, ground leases, purchase and sale agreements, transmission and pipeline easements, financing documents, and title insurance products
- Ability to work independently (with appropriate oversight) on real estate transactions and agreements
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, managing more than one project at a time
- Ability to handle self under pressure, work independently and follow through on tasks to completion in a timely manner

- Salary: USD $170,000 - $180,000 base salary with 45-50% annual target bonus
