Day to Day

As the Director, Legal Counsel for Privacy and a key member of the Legal Department, you will play a critical role in shaping Indeed’s global privacy strategy, and developing innovative privacy frameworks that balance user rights, company needs and legal requirements. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of global privacy laws and regulations, experience advising on complex privacy matters, a passion for building and scaling privacy programs in a fast-paced environment, and a desire to serve as a solid leader of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice and practical solutions to business stakeholders on a wide range of privacy issues, including data collection, use, sharing, and security.
  • Monitor, assess and advise on privacy risks associated with new products, services and technology.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of internal and external privacy policies, data inventories and incident response plans.
  • Stay up to date and analyze emerging privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices, including GDPR, CCPA, and other global privacy frameworks, to provide proactive guidance on how they impact Indeed’s business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal and external to Legal, including Product, Marketing, Procurement, Engineering, Security, and HR, to ensure compliance with privacy requirements.
  • Represent Indeed in interactions with regulators and industry partners on privacy-related topics and manage responses to regulatory inquiries and investigations.
  • Manage and mentor a team of privacy professionals.

Skills/Competencies

  • J.D. degree and membership in a U.S. state bar or Qualified to practice law in Ireland
  • 10+ years of experience in privacy law.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws.
  • Proven analytical and communication skills.
  • Understanding of web-based technologies and how privacy laws apply to them.
  • Keen interest in innovation and a business-forward thinker.

Education Requirement:

  • J.D. degree and membership in a U.S. state bar

Austin 192,000 - 288,000 USD per year
US Remote 192,000 - 288,000 USD per year
New York City Metro Area 230,000 - 345,000 USD per year
SF Bay Area 240,000 - 360,000 USD per year

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
