More Specifically, This Assistant General Counsel Will:
Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements;Interpret contracts and advise clients on discrete contractual questions and commercial disputes;Work closely with sales and operations personnel to review and provide advice on requests for proposals and bid responses;Advise business to ensure compliance with federal, state and local government regulations;Advise business to ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies;Advise on bankruptcy, antitrust, intellectual property, environmental and other legal matters;Manage litigation, internal investigations, and responses to government inquiries;Collaborate within the Legal Department and with other functions and lines of business to influence business outcomes and mitigate risk; andOversee and effectively manage outside counsel.
In addition to excellent written and oral communication skills, the preferred candidate will demonstrate first-rate analytical ability, strong initiative, and both interpersonal skills and client-service skills consistent with the highest professional standards.
The preferred candidate will have all or most of the following attributes and experience:
Seasoned and effective lawyer. Demonstrates a high degree of executive presence, with a high level of confidence exhibited in client interactions. Possesses excellent client-service skills and an ability to interact with and effectively advise senior business leaders.Strong and effective judgment. Thinks logically and exercises well-developed and independent judgment to produce creative and constructive solutions under pressure to overcome legal and business obstacles. Demonstrates strategic and analytic approach to solving clients? legal needs to support growth while mitigating risk. Demonstrates professional and personal ethics and integrity and illustrates an ability to influence decisions through informal authority and interactions.High-level creative problem solver. Handles and brings complex and sophisticated legal matters to a successful conclusion with minimal supervision. Understands and incorporates line of business strategy and priorities into daily tasks and assignments. Demonstrates business acumen. Solid, self-assured leader. Demonstrates effective leadership skills and instincts. The preferred candidate will have experience managing the legal affairs of a substantial business or portion of a substantial business. Shows a self-reliant work ethic and high level of productivity.Strong communicator and collaborator. Communicates and collaborates effectively and skillfully with colleagues and clients, both orally and in writing.
Qualifications
Excellent academic credentials, including a J.D., current Pennsylvania bar admission or admission in another jurisdiction with the ability to become licensed to practice in Pennsylvania; andBrings at least five years? experience in a law firm and/or sophisticated corporate legal department and must demonstrate judgement consistent with that level of experience.
