POSITION OVERVIEWFidelity National Title – National Commercial Services (a division of Fortune 300, Fidelity National Financial), is currently seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriting Counsel in its Mountain West Operations, to become part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing exceptional service to the real estate services industry. LOCATIONThis is an onsite position out of our Salt Lake City, UT office.Shift: 8 hours, Monday – Friday. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyze legal issues and mitigate risk related to commercial real estate transactions.Collaborate with colleagues to find solutions to commercial real estate transactions in Utah and around the United States.Act as an underwriting point person on transactions, with emphasis on analyzing purchase and sale contracts, reviewing title insurance commitments, incorporating surveys and other due diligence materials into the risk assessment, managing client communication and negotiations, approving closing instruction letters, and issuing policies.Interface with customers to analyze title issues and the Company’s risk tolerance while helping customers achieve their goals.Utilize underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance.Participate in continuing education activities and network with the real estate community. QUALIFICATIONSLaw Degree and a license to practice law, in good standing.Requires 5-10+ years title underwriting experience, commercial experience preferred.Must be familiar with real estate law, including federal and state regulations.Strong understanding of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of real estate title and settlement processes.Strong analytical rigor and business acumen.Strong negotiation skills and ability to provide alternative solutions or convey unpopular information with tact.Capacity for abstract, creative thinking with a solution-oriented approach.Ability to collaborate and act decisively, building relationships internally and externally.Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and timely follow up.
This fulltime position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $95,000 - $130,000 based on location and job-related factors such as skillset and experience. The base salary is one component of the total rewards package offered to our employees, including insurance (medical/dental/vision/life/disability), matching 401(k) plan and matching employee stock purchase plan.
