Position Description
The Associate General Counsel will provide legal counsel and support across various aspects of the company's operations. This role involves drafting and reviewing legal documents, advising on regulatory compliance, managing litigation, and ensuring the company’s activities adhere to legal requirements. This multifaceted position necessitates an individual who possesses meticulous attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills, all within the framework of a dynamic, fast-paced setting where unwavering ethical and professional standards are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
Legal CounselProvide legal advice to management and departments on a variety of legal issues including corporate compliance, contracts, litigation, finance, employment law, and regulatory compliance.Contract ManagementDraft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company's interests.Litigation ManagementOversee and manage the company’s involvement in litigation, including coordinating with external counsel, research and analysis, handling discovery, reviewing and responding to subpoenas, and representing the company in legal proceedings.Regulatory ComplianceEnsure the company complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Monitor changes in legislation and advise the company on potential impacts.Policy DevelopmentDevelop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risk.Risk ManagementIdentify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.Training and EducationConduct legal training sessions for employees on relevant legal topics and company policies.Corporate GovernanceAssist in corporate governance matters, including preparing and maintaining corporate records and filings.CollectionsSupport the Collections team - gather information on the settlement of a case and determine a solution to the matter, up to and including litigation. Keep up with cases in the portfolio and stay on top of issues requiring monitoring and/or legal escalation.Finance: Maintain a working knowledge of the finance industry and banking compliance issues.
Qualifications
EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Bar AdmissionActive membership in good standing with the California State Bar.ExperienceA minimum of 3-5 years of legal experience, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house counsel experience.Experience in areas such as personal injury litigation, contract law, employment law, healthcare and/or regulatory compliance.SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong negotiation skills,Excellent research (Westlaw or Lexis preferred), writing and verbal communication skills.Adept at Excel, spreadsheets and technologyAbility to work independently and as part of a team.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Strategic solution-finderKnowledgeIn-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the business.Familiarity with the regulatory environment specific to the industry (e.g., litigation, technology, healthcare, finance).AttributesHigh ethical standards and integrity.Business acumen and strategic thinking.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.

$130,000.00 - $160,000.00 annually
