About The Team:

Our Global Legal team provides key support for all TikTok’s innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global video market. We enable our technology and business teams' vision through integrated legal guidance and support. The Global Litigation & Antitrust team, a global subject matter expertise team within the Global Legal group, handles litigation matters involving TikTok and related businesses in all regions in which TikTok operates.

We are looking for an experienced US patent litigation lawyer to work on patent litigation, pre-litigation patent analysis & license disputes, competitor analysis, risk assessment, and risk mitigation. This position will report to our senior patent counsel. Candidates should have US patent litigation experience, a growth mindset, and be able to collaborate with global cross-functional teams, and learn new software and hardware technologies quickly.

This position provides candidates with a unique opportunity to be part of a growing global legal team and collaborate with our elite engineers, business teams, risk & compliance, financial and policy teams on cutting-edge patent issues critical to protecting our fantastic products and innovations in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment.

Responsibilities

Analyze patent claim charts and technologies; develop non-infringement and invalidity defenses; assess risk; manage outside counsel and budgets. Collaborate with our Global Legal, engineering, product development, human resources, finance, and business teams on patent litigation, pre-litigation patent analysis & licensing, competitor analysis, risk assessment, and risk mitigation. Provide patent risk training for multiple teams and answer their questions. Provide pragmatic, business-focused, solution-oriented legal advice and guidance, and respond promptly on patent matters.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school, and member of a U.S. state bar. Experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department with patent litigation experience. Experience with the Internet, mobile apps, mobile devices, and the software industry. Excellent writing and organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize multiple urgent projects. Strategic thinker with a pragmatic, creative, risk-based approach to problem-solving. Experience working collaboratively and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment, with tight turn-around times and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Entrepreneurial mindset, flexible, self-starting, hard-working, with an ability to work across multiple time zones. Comfortable dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity. Technical background in source code, the Internet, AI, cloud computing, and data center & server industry would be preferred. High emotional intelligence, maturity, and judgment.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $162133 - $303240 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
